Views of Tallinn from Toompea Hill
There are observation platforms at the top of Toompea Hill where you can enjoy uninterrupted rooftop views - all of the roofs look so similar with their red tiles. Crowds come here in the summer, so you may have to wait your turn. If you walk here from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the first observation deck that you'll reach is the Kohtuotsa platform, followed soon afterwards by the Patkuli platform.

Going down to the Old Town
The Old Town is the number one attraction in Tallinn and it is a UNESCO site, with loads and loads of medieval character and features. This district is encircled by a historic Town Wall, which has no less than 25 lookout towers - it really is very pretty indeed. The majority of the Old Town is completely traffic free and nicely cobbled. Afterwards, go to the Lower Town, where there are a lot of lively restaurants, particularly around the Town Hall Square (Raekoja Plats).

Spectacular Views
Tallinn is a very attractive city and if you are walking around the city centre and the Town Hall Square, it is quite likely that you will find you way to the top of the Toompea Hill. Whatever the time of the year, the views are really special. There are a number of different vantage points and some even come with their very own telescopes. We also went to the Lossi Plats and then the Nevsky Cathedral - well, we were tourists after all!
