 The overall standard of lodging and accommodation in Tallinn has improved greatly over the years and most hotels here are modern, with good European-style facilities. While much of the accommodation is fairly reasonably priced, there are a number of rather upmarket, luxury options should you be looking to splash out.
Some of the best hotels in Tallinn are based around the historic Town Hall Square and offer great views of the surrounding historical buildings, spires and cobblestone streets. Accommodation in this part of Tallinn also has the advantage of being close to many quality restaurants and good gift shops, which are minutes away from the front door in most directions.

Old Town Tallinn in general is where many of the city's most desirable boutique-style hotels reside, particularly around Dunkri, Olevimägi, Pühavaimu, Suur-Karja and Vana Posti. The best of these even boast their very own wine cellars, courtyard gardens and exclusive private dining with an intimate atmosphere.
Self-catering apartments are also available in this part of Tallinn and this type of accommodation provides a greater level of freedom that many visitors are now looking for. On the very outskirts of the Old Town area, the Kesklinn and Nomme districts also contain many historical hotels, at a price. Many appealing options can also be found distributed around the seafront, being literally metres away from the beach and the Randla area, and less than 3 km / 2 miles from Tallinn city centre.
Whilst cheaper lodging is available around Tallinn city centre, it is harder to come by and you will need to be prepared to search. Plenty of more affordable accommodation is sited in the city suburbs and with good transport connections, these hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses are often the best options, being within easy reach of the cultural Toompea district and the more pricey beach resorts.
